BEWARE: I have a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT regular cab 3.0L v6 Flex Fuel. Depending on where your Ranger was assembled, depends on which parts they used. (I didn’t know this going into it and I about pulled all my hair out going through all these issues I had, hopefully if you follow my directions it’ll be way easier) FIRST check the part number on the fuel filter on your ranger, if you can read it, before you pull it off. The one I pulled off is incompatible with this one. One end is thicker on my original motorcraft part and is the FG-991. I found a few cheap ones on here but I was able to order next day free shipping a Wix 33233 which is at least better than an offbrand for 13 bucks at O’Reilly. Autozone and Advanced didn’t even offer a replacement. The connections are odd too. The skinny side has a plastic clip you pull out with a screw driver (which Wix has included two new clips in the box) and the fat side is the normal annoying "quick" disconnect. Go get the tool, it’s about 5-10 bucks, I paid 8, it was worth it. Especially since they should be changed every 20-30k miles for these older trucks/cars. I spent 2 hours cursing and screaming because I was trying to use a pen cap to do it from YouTube videos and failed miserably. K&N is a great company (I have their cold air intake) I’m sure this would have worked flawlessly if it had fit.

Great fuel filter, i would give it five stars if it came with clips but luckily the originals didn’t break so it wasn’t a big deal.I always go with k and n fuel filters on all of my older cars because they give better fuel flow and are cheaper than motorcraft fuel filters.I just did my 98 grand marquis with a k and n fuel filter and it came with the clips, anyway it made the car start so much faster than before. It was so nice to see how something simple like a fuel filter can fix problems like that.

I have a 2005 Crown Vic with 215,000 miles on it. Fuel filter was original and just not something I had thought about replacing in the past. Now I wish I had done it years ago! Brings back that quick response in the pedal and I get better mpg. Couldn’t be happier.
